Whats the best way to shave a cat?

i have a long haired cat..it is always mleaving hair everywhere...im want to shave it but my electric clippers always scare it and it struggles and runs away..whats the best technique to shaveit?

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

jeez, don't shave! try to brush daily, poor Cat

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

Well, you do know that cats shed, right?

The best way is to take it to the groomer to be shaved. Its impossible and dangerous to do it yourself. You can't shave your cat if its an outdoor cat, especially in the winter. Brushing every day will also cut down on the amount of shedding.

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

don't do it yourself - take the cat to a professional groomer so no one gets hurt- it will be less stressful for you and the cat

I got that CAT!!!!!!!

With claws, like a bath, get small window SCREEN, place in sink or tub, have cat grab screen.

Without claws, you hold cat, get clippers to hair and let Cat feel massage action till you cut Cat's skin. Then you get Trouble, maybe bite.

I have vacuum handy and turn on and off to get amounts of HAIR between clipping. LOTS OF NOISE THERE.

Best in sink, spread towel out to collect hair rather than vacuum.

In chair use vacuum.

DON'T use a clipper!! Something like that is not familiar to cats. If s/he tries to run away, they may get hurt!

DO brush the cat everyday -- maybe in the bathroom or sit with it over newspapers on the floor. Otherwise, if you have the cash, take your cat to a vet or look for a pet grooming place. Make sure the pet place is not for dogs only!!!

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

the best way to get your cat to do anything you want is to get rid of you cat and buy a dog instead.

First of all, you need a suit of armor. And I mean plate armor, not that chainmail stuff that will let a cat's claws through.

Then get about five gallons of NAIR, a large bucket, and one of those plastic neck cones to prevent licking.

Be sure your steel plated gauntlets are on, buckle the cone around the cat's neck, and dunk the cat in the NAIR. Don't get the cat's head in the stuff. You don't want to get it in the eyes, mouth or nose.

Follow the directions on the NAIR bottles and just rinse away all that hair. Repeat as necessary.

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

Well

1. YOU DO NOT SHAVE A CAT!!!!!

2. You simply use some reg scissors

3. If you hate the way your cats sheds than just brush it out everyday. This will make it feel pampered and it will make less fur appear in your household

4.YOU DO NOT SHAVE A CAT!!!!!

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

Please don't shave your cat, besides being cruel you will be removing your cats main temperature regulator. Take the time to brush or comb it out thats what you have to do when you own a long haired cat or dog.. If you find you don't like the chore then perhaps you should give the cat to someone who will. They have a new comb out called shed ender it works really well.

You can get it and only have to comb your cat about once a week.It only cost me $9.99 at walmart.

First off let me state that unless the cat was full of mats to the extent that I was unable to clear them by brushing I would not clip a cat. My first preference would be to take them to a professional groomer who has the correct facility to do the job. Safety equipment, proper clippers, etc. All designed to make the job easier on everyone involved.

If this is not possible then, the next step would be to try a pair of scissor if the hair is really long and the cat is patient. Carefully clip the hair from the cat - leaving the hair on the tail, head and legs alone and being very careful around the armpits and belly. I would leave about an inch and a half of hair or a bit more. Think in terms of a the length of hair on a short haired cat. The hair will be uneven and shaggy looking. Give the cat a thorough brushing and lots of love and attention - maybe a special treat after the 'torture' is over. You may have to do it in sections if the cat isn't able to sit for long periods of time without freaking out. Not a big deal but better to have a cooperative cat than a wiggly one where you might clip the skin!

Now the hair is a more manageable length and has been brushed well. If you have something like Rescue Remedy or other product that will help to relax your kitty, now is the time to bring it out. You're going to use your pet clippers with the large guards on it to even up the hair. Gently guide the clippers over the body of the cat, giving special care to the tummy and underarms and watching for adverse reactions. Stop if the cat becomes too upset and sooth the cat. Return when the cat can tolerate the experience.

I would not trim the tail but if desired you can trim the chops on the cat and a bit down the legs. Remember tho - if you are doing this - the cat MUST be kept inside - at least for a month until he/she has acclimatized to the change in her fur coat! By then the hair will be growing out too. If you start with her shorter coat and brush her each day you will establish a pattern that the cat will enjoy and keep up on the cat hair. No matter what - short or long - the cat hair will be there!!

Now one more point. If your cat leaves a lot of hair around, first look at it's nutrition. to have so much hair falling out it may need a higher nutritional food. Think about upgrading to a better food such as Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soupl or Solid Gold Katzenfloken or Evo. That will also help with the shedding A bit of salmon oil in the food will also help.

Good luck with the shedding - it's a problem with long haired cats but they are worth it.

NEVER SHAVE YOUR CAT!!!!!! YOU ARE A BIG MEANIE!!!!!!!

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

Spring for the money and take your cat to a qualified groomer! Don't do this yourself!

Whats the best way to shave a cat?

NO NO NO!!!!!!!

You must take the cat to a pet saloon or the vet. You risk injury to the animal if you do it your self, and NEVER use cream or any other human hair removal on your cat or you risk poisoning it!!!!
