is it safe to go and cut your hair at the barber shop. the clipper might have have contact with someone who has HIV/AIDS and then transfered to other people. And a lot of peopel go to the barber. I go but I am just concerned.

I don't believe that there has been a case of aids being transmitted through barber shears. Ask the barber what he does to clean the clippers and how often. (call them on the phone to ask- that way they don't know who you are).

I cut my own hair. Get yourself to Walgreens or Walmart and pick up some clippers of your own. It's not hard to cut your own hair. There are guards of different lengths that come with the clippers. If you want your hair longer or shorter you can go to a beauty shop and buy alternate length guards. The guards will cut your hair to 1/4" to 2 1/2" depending on what you choose.

Thanks Lightning Flash-- I just cut my hair about 2 hrs. ago. After submitting this answer yesterday I kept thinking about it so I cut it down to a 1/4" from about 2 1/2".

that's just silly you can only contract aids by swapping bodily fluids so unless the clippers cut someone with aids which is highly unlikely no you cant catch it from going to the barbers and all good barbers sterilise there equipment regularly

You're not gonna contract anything unless there is an open sore and a transfer of bodily fluids and besides they do clean their equipment...so you should be fine.

dont fret about that stuff..... the barber cuts some one like 1 in 1000 people. you ever wonder what that blue liquid is in that glass bottle.... its to sterlize all that stuff..... you have more chances of getting aids from walking on the street than go to the barber

Most barbers or hair stylists, are very responsible when it comes to cleaning utensils. The board of health also checks up on occassion, so I would not worry unless you have been somewhere you felt just did not take care of the facility. Good Luck

firstly he would have to cut someone.

Then the aids biddy would have to tread water in the sterilising dish until you walk in, paddle across to the snippers and hope that he cuts your head also.

But you're right to fret, because...........

Once thats happened you're dead. You probably won't live long enough to reach for your money

So NEVER ,EVER have a haircut
