I clipp my Poms all the time.If you have a # 7 skip tooth ,or # 5 blade put it on clippers.First start by clipping the coat about 1 to 1 1/4 inches long with scissors, leaving the tail , face, chest, and around neck long. After clipping the other areas with scissors, begin by placing the clippers next to the hair growth where you started clipping with scissors, should be a little pass halfway the body towards the head.Only cut in direction of hair growth not against.Clippers should glide down back through the hair down to where tail begins. Then clip sides in same manner.Be careful that clippers don't get too hot,as you will burn the dog's skin. When you're finished trim any excess hair you may have missed. When you're finished, your Pom should resemble a little lion with the hair left just around the head ,neck, and partial back and chest. It may take you a few times, but you will soon catch on and soon your baby will look like he was clipped by a professional.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! No DIY jobs please, leave it to the professionals or you will end up with a skinned rabbit! I have seen it all too often, I am a groomer. Often with these wahl clippers they come with the shortest blade available. Please please PLEASE take your dog to a reputable groomer. I swear if you do this you will regret it your dog will look like a sheared sheep.

My aunt has a pom and takes him to the groomers to get a "Lion Cut". He gets basically shaved on his body and legs, and a poof is left around his head and on the tip of his tail so he looks like a little lion, its adorable. Just shave the body and legs alllllll the way down with the Wahl clippers, those are good ones.
But i would just take him to the groomer. its like 30 dollars.

i've got a pomeranian dog too=]=] but...we give him to the groomers, cause honestly..pomeranian dogs are so puffy...it's really hard to cut and wash and everything. i suggest you just give him to grooming

i had shi tzus and clipped them with scissors-buzzing made them too jumpy, me nervous; clippers should have useful instructions on use and styling tips--takes patience on owner and dog to get this task done; poms have the layers to deal with, and you might get a groomer who is willing, to show you the first time,,,,,
