To buzz or not buzz?

At least 3/5 girls tell me to get a buzz or butch. I am considering it, but what attachment on a pair of clippers buzzes but doesn't show flesh like 1/4. Should I really go through this or should I find another hairstyle? If you know another hairstyle tell me. I'm wondering because I've had the same hairstyle for half of my life and would like a little change or even a drastic change. I have an oval face with brown-borderline-black hair and usually settle with punk/rocker/skateboarder clothing.

p.s. don't leave answers like "it's your hair do what you want with it" please voice your opinion if I should or not. If you want photos we'll have to do that whole thing on e-mail.

I personally have a buzz cut, but that was from my time in the US Marines, and I have not bothered doing anything else because it is cheap(I can do it myself FREE.). Just beware that the VAST majority of people look utterly stupid with a buzz cut. You have to have the perfect head shape to wear it with any confidence.

Well, first I have to wonder why you would change your hair because someone else tells you to do it (your first sentence). What do YOU like? I would never change anything about myself just because someone else suggested it (except my doctor, of course, if it was medically needed). Are you a guy? I assume you are. If so, your hair grows six inches a year, so whatever you do, it's a quick thing to grow it back out if you don't like it. I am a female and personally like long hair on a guy. Alex O'Loughlin, Keith Urban, that length. Very sexy, and it gives us something to touch above your shoulders. :)

I buzz mine off and it feels so much better it's always a number 1 for me when I go in and get a haircut. My girl loves it!! always rubbing her hands on it when I shave it off.
